About Microsoft Fabric

What it is

Microsoft Fabric is Microsoft’s software-as-a-service analytics platform. It combines data integration, a lakehouse and warehouse on OneLake, real-time analytics and Power BI under one capacity, with shared security and governance.

A good fit when

  • Reporting pulls from several systems with different definitions
  • Reports are slow because they query live systems
  • Data is exported to spreadsheets to be combined by hand
  • Several teams need the same governed data
What we do

How we work with Microsoft Fabric

Bringing data together

Link to Fabric for Dataverse, pipelines and dataflows to land data from CRM, finance and legacy systems in OneLake.

Modelling

Lakehouse and warehouse layers that clean and conform data once, so every report uses the same definitions.

Semantic models for Power BI

Shared semantic models with tested measures and row-level security, built around the questions people actually ask.

Capacity and governance

Workspace structure, capacity sizing, access and lineage, so costs and data access stay under control.

Questions

Common questions about Microsoft Fabric

Do we need Fabric to use Power BI?

No. Power BI works on its own. Fabric helps when data comes from many systems, volumes grow, or several teams need the same governed data.

How does Dataverse data get into Fabric?

Link to Fabric copies Dataverse and Dynamics 365 tables into OneLake, without you building and maintaining your own export pipelines.

How is Fabric licensed?

Fabric is licensed by capacity, plus Power BI licences for some users depending on how reports are shared. We help size it so you are not paying for capacity you do not use.
